Meetings

We meet through the seasons, every third Sunday of the Month.
All meetings are open to the public.

The Finger Lakes Beekeepers Club meets monthly, on the third Sunday of the month at 2pm. The exception is December, when we skip a meeting for the holidays.

Winter meetings are held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension located at 615 Willow Ave. Ithaca, NY.

Summer meetings are held at the club hives, located on the “back 40” of the Cayuga Nature Center at 2pm.

The purpose of the FLBC is education and promotion of beekeeping.

Present: Denise, Linda, Nancy, George, Judy, David, Peter

Apiary Manager — It was decided that Peter would manage the apiary without a formal committee structure. Notes on apiary management notes will be shared with the club via the website. Judy expressed interest in seeing Peter do the apiary inspections, despite her extreme noobiness (or is that noobitude?) and will write these notes whenever she attends.

World Bee Day—Sat. May 20. Linda will contact the Cayuga Lake National Bank folks to see how we can contribute something to their celebration of World Bee Day, whether a demo hive or something else.

Ithaca College Bee Fest — This is not until October, but Judy and David will resurrect and edit the existing bee club info handout so as to render it current.

Judy to work with George about the mentorship program (or lack thereof). Maybe we can send out some kind of survey to see if mentors and prospective mentees can be connected. Spreadsheet method, “mentor” sticker method...

Linda will visit ESHPA bee camp and see what we can offer as a club — maybe we can look at histograms of frozen pollen! We may be able to do a pollinator planting project at the apiary?

Nancy may be able to organize a field trip/picnic/barbeque. David has offered his place.

Denise will give me and [someone else] the ability to add people to the google group; they have to be added manually by an empowered officer.

Fresh content for website should be sent to Judy. (Thanks Linda and Peter for your bios)
